Of course there is! When the housing market is going strong, there will be increased demand for new builds and thus, work for interior designers. When the housing market is in a slump, people will invest in making their own homes nicer. The demand for remodel work goes up, because people know they need to make the best of what they have. People are refusing to live in ugly homes! Interior Designers can help! We feel that the interior design industry is somewhat balanced and will evolve to reflect the economic climate.
It is never too late to start a career in interior decorating. Students from all walks of life who are tired of their present job or career and have a passion for Interior design and are ready to start a new career or business. All ages are welcome from 18-75 years. It’s never too late to follow your dreams.

An Interior decorator assists clients with selecting and placing accessories, such as pillows, wall art, lamps, area rugs, paint; and even in selection of fabrics and/or furnishings for rooms. But a designer would have the added ability to change the curve of the arm on a sofa, drastically change the appearance of a chair by adding or eliminating detail and surface refinements. He/she would be trained for, able and inclined to add, eliminate or alter architectural elements and proportions in a space and be able to design custom pieces to meet challenging aesthetic and practical needs in ways that are creative and unique. The designer is familiar with historic, proportional, structural and material elements, and therefore can (by rule, intuition and skill) diminish, disguise or eliminate problem areas and to enhance, establish or properly showcase the finer features of the space in question.
To put it as simply as possible; the decorator adds things to a space to improve the look, the designer alters the space itself and incorporates a comprehensive vision into the room that includes more than just accessories and fabrics.
(We will teach you both the basic elements of interior design and decorating.

It’s important that you choose the right course which is why we encourage you to attend one of our free Information Sessions or join us for our Open Day. Once you’ve made a selection you’ll need to complete an enrollment form and pay your deposit to secure your place. For those choosing the Certificate in Interior Decoration, no experience is necessary. For those studying the specialized courses you’ll need to meet us for an interview and have some experience / level of education to attend.
When it comes to choosing a course it’s important to consider the outcome – what career path do you have in mind? How much time can you invest in studying? These are questions best answered one-on-one at our free Info Session or Open Day.
Yes. JSAID is accredited by the Certified Interior Decorators International, Florida. Our course content is constantly refined and based on competency standards set by the interior design industry. You will graduate with an internationally recognized qualification.

JSAID courses are vocational – they focus on preparing students to work in the industry by exposing them to practical real world projects and technology. University courses take a more theoretical and conceptual approach to design education.

This is a crucial consideration and one we ask students to consider from day one of their studies. Our Careers Coach is on hand to help you determine your unique career path. Whether it be Commercial, Residential or Hospitality design, Styling or your own business we are determined to help you to reach your potential.
Installment payment is available to only those studying the 3 Months Certificate in Interior Decoration and those who will be certified interior decorators.

No, exams are not part of our design courses. Most assessments are practically based and presented in class. There is also a small component of written research assignments. However for the CID International certification you will need to sit for an online exam which will be assessed by CID International.
We believe everybody can draw. Our patient Educators are passionate about learning. They will teach you the correct techniques to express your ideas through drawing.
We like to keep our class sizes small so that you get lots of individual attention. There is a maximum of 12 people in each class.
Our Certificate classes require 4-6 hours of extra study per week. All specialised classes require 6-14 hours per week.
Yes, we offer online courses for those who can’t attend our physical classes. However, the good news is that our full time day program is twice a week from 10 am to 2 pm and weekends – Saturdays only Market visits, Showroom visits and Practicals all inclusive. That leaves other days free for those who need to work part time while going to school.
We try our best to place students for Internships! Especially our best students so it is up to you.
Yes, because we only teach Interior decoration. Since we are a career-focused school, you will learn only practical information and skills that will be of immediate benefit to your new career as an interior decorator. We will also teach you how to make money in interior design.
Absolutely. Any course can be taken individually or in combination. The cost will be the prorated amount of the normal full program tuition. Please note that installmental payment is not available to students taking individual courses. You must be enrolled full-time in the Interior Design program to be eligible.
Not a problem. We will transfer your credits over to the full program and you are free to continue. Your tuition bill is credited for the amount already paid and you are on your way!
Not at this time. Since our curriculum is so specific and unique to our program, we do not have equivalent courses to other traditional institutions. The same can be said about the other direction: credits received at JSAID will likely not be accepted by other schools.
Since we are a small private school, we have the ability to be somewhat flexible with payment plans to suit our students’ needs. We offer a 0% interest payment plan where tuition is payable in 2 installments. For more details about payment options, visit the school and talk to our accounts department.

Established in 2016, JSAID is first provider of accredited interior design courses in Nigeria and in the process of becoming the first diploma awarding interior design tertiary institution in Nigeria.
